C’è l’inconfondibile tocco della chitarra di David Gilmour in questa Hey Hey Rise Up che ha rimesso insieme i Pink Floyd – quanto meno nella componente Gilmour + Nick Mason alla batteria – in supporto all’Ucraina nel doloroso conflitto cui stiamo assistendo. Per la cronaca la formazione è completata dal bassista Guy Pratt e da Nitin Sawhney alle tastiere.
Alla voce c’è invece il cantante della band ucraina BoomBox Andriy Khlyvnyuk, che dopo il suo negli Stati Uniti è tornato a combattere a Kiev e da Sofiyskaya Square aveva girato un video in cui cantava il brano “Oh, The Red Viburnum In The Meadow”; una sorta di inno non ufficiale del paese che risale al 2014.
Sull’impianto del ritornello della canzone – chiaramente eseguita in remoto da Khlyvnyuk – Gilmour esegue un assolo di chitarra in cui si riconosce immediatamente lo stile dei Floyd. Ecco video e testo del brano.
