Bio e Storia dei Depeche Mode
I Depeche Mode sono una band britannica di punta del panorama synth pop, formatasi nel 1980 a Basildon, nell’Essex vicino a Londra. Attualmente il gruppo è composto da due membri storici: Dave Gahan (voce) e Martin Gore (chitarra, tastiere, voce), ma la formazione originaria comprendeva anche Vince Clarke (tastiere, chitarra, cori, drum machine) – uscito nel 1981 per fondare gli Yazoo e successivamente gli Erasure – e
Andrew Fletcher (tastiere, basso e cori) scomparso nel 2023.
La storia dei Depeche Mode inizia a fine anni Settanta con l’incontro tra Vince Clarke e Andrew Fletcher, accomunati dalla passione per la musica. Insieme a Martin Gore, formano i Composition Of Sound, che ben presto cambierà nome nell’iconico Depeche Mode. L’arrivo di Dave Gahan come frontman completa il puzzle.
Il loro debutto ufficiale avviene nel 1980 con la partecipazione alla compilation “Some Bizzare Album” con il brano “Photographic”. Il primo album vero e proprio, “Speak And Spell”, arriva nel 1981 e contiene la hit “Just Can’t Get Enough”, che li lancia nel panorama musicale internazionale.
Successivamente, album come “Violator” (1990) e “Songs of Faith and Devotion” (1993) consolidano il loro successo planetario, grazie a brani iconici come “Personal Jesus”, “Enjoy the Silence” e “Walking in My Shoes”. L’ultimo album è Memento Mori, arrivato nel 2023 dopo sei anni di silenzio discografico.
